Featuring the Ring Straße, the most majestic avenue in Vienna, we pass the Opera House, the Austrian Parliament, the City Hall, the Imperial Theater and Karlsplatz with the baroque church. The recreational area of the Prater with the Ferris Wheel, known from the movie “The Third Man” is also part of the tour. After a stop at the legendary “Hundertwasserhaus” we continue to see more of “Modern Vienna” on the Danube such as the United Nations Centre and some interesting examples of modern architecture.

City Walk in the old town

Off the beaten tracks we discover hidden inner courtyards, elegant walking passages and medieval narrow streets. On a stroll through the most distinguished streets of Kohlmarkt and Graben we pass some traditional viennese cafés and arrive at St.Stephan`s Cathedral, nicknamed “Steffl”, the most famous symbol of Vienna. Here you can enjoy the breathtaking view from one of the two towers, either by lift or climbing the 343 steps.

600 years Hofburg

Saunter with me through the inner courtyards of the Hofburg Palace, the former imperial winter residence. Learn more about the Hapsburg family and their life through anecdotes and historical facts.

Pass by the worldwide famous Spanish Riding School of the Lipizzaner horses, making a visit to the Imperial Apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and his beautiful wife Elisabeth (Sisi) and admire precious tableware in the Silver Collection.

Explore with me the celebrated musical tradition of Vienna!

We can visit the imposing State Opera House or follow the tracks of music during a nice stroll. Passing memorials and homes of composers who have lived and worked in Vienna-like Mozart, Beethoven or Johann Strauss we can immerse ourselves in their world.

Alternatively we can also step into the Golden Hall where the world famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs the New Years Concert. A visit to the House of Music, an interactive discovery museum of music and sound, offers you a fantastic experience.

A visit to ponder upon the tombs of the most famous composers at the Central Cemetery, which also houses the biggest Art Nouveau church will leave you with a lasting memory.

Art Nouveau in Vienna

On a city walk to discover Art Nouveau we pass some stunning examples of “Vienna around 1900”. Let us combine this with the visit to the Secession with the famous Beethoven Frieze by Klimt, or to the Leopold Museum housing works of Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and exciting samples of the Viennese Workshop. Jewish Vienna

From the middle ages up to the present day we follow the steps of the Jewish community and remember the important role of so many artists, scientists and patrons with Jewish roots in the late 19th and early 20th century. Good examples are Gustav Mahler and Sigmund Freud as well as the Ephrussi family (The hare with the amber eyes).

We pass memorials and the Holocaust monument and, optionally, we can visit the Synagogue or one of the two Jewish Museums.

Schönbrunn Palace

Let´s explore together the former Hapsburg summer residence from the time of Maria Theresa, Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Elisabeth (Sisi) with its magnificent rooms in Rococo style. Enjoy a walk through the baroque garden or a visit to the private “Bergl Appartements” with stunning tropical wall paintings. Also worth seeing is the Coach Museum with some outstanding examples of historic carriages, sleighs and sedan chairs. For the animal enthusiasts the world´s oldest zoo is right around the corner.

Vienna Woods

Southern
Viewing the romantic Castle of Liechtenstein we visit Heiligenkreuz, the oldest Cistercian Abbey in Austria. Continue with me to the former legendary hunting-lodge Mayerling, where Crown Prince Rudolph committed suicide. Driving on through the romantic valley of St.Helena we reach the elegant spa town of Baden, which still maintains its imperial charm.

Northern
Here we visit the abbey of Klosterneuburg forming a wonderful combination of medieval and baroque architecture. Following the tracks of the Babenberg family, who were the ruling family in the middle ages, we visit their former residence. A stunning highlight is the 800 year old Altar of Verdun.

We can end both excursions enjoying a glass of local wine, or indeed/even wine tasting at a cozy “Heuriger” as we call our wine taverns.

Wachau Valley

In the middle of this romantic scenery, full of history and legends we will visit the magnificent Benedictine Abbey of Melk where monks have lived for more than 900 years.

Afterwards we will explore the picturesque villages along the banks of the Danube either by road or by boat. Enjoying the stunning vineyards and apricot plantations before arriving in the legendary village of Dürnstein where Richard Lionheart was kept prisoner.
